We left our home one day while he was at work, with only the clothes on our backs. We found a local emergency shelter that would let us stay for 90 days, but had no idea where to go after that. My husband had control of our finances, so we didn’t have the money to rent an apartment. Fortunately, a case manager connected me to Lydia’s House: a place where all four of us could live comfortably and safely.
When we arrived at Lydia’s House, we were provided with a fully furnished apartment. My children were able to live and play in a safe place. I worked one-on-one with my advocate to gain independence and find a job. We started doing family activities again, like going on picnics and attending community meals each week with other residents at Lydia’s House. Lydia’s House saved our lives. We cannot thank you enough!
