The abuse continued. I was able to talk to a co-worker, and she gave me the phone number for an emergency shelter, who then introduced me to Lydia’s House. That is when my life turned around.
My Lydia’s House advocate helped me file for divorce and for custody of my children. She also helped me with my English and I filed for U.S. citizenship. I began my new job at Lydia’s Ladle, where I could work happily, knowing I was safe. Lydia’s Ladle taught me the skills I needed to advance my career and I am working at a large hospital in the area. Thanks to my advocate and Lydia’s House, I am now a U.S. citizen! I will forever be grateful for Lydia’s House!
